" The man ' about whom this was written in one of the leading sporting journals of the country is at present keeping goal for the South Shields A.F.C. , having been signed on during the close Kebbell is only 21 years of agé , and practi . cally the whole of his previous experience in fotball of any real class has been with Southend United , for whom he played with r arked success for three seasons . In his first season with the club Kebbell played as an amateur , and subsequently . as a profes c'onal . He was with Southend when the club was promoted to the First Division of the Southern League , and the service he rendered them was such as to call forth the tribute quoted above as well as other com umentary references by well - qualified critics .
