South Shields have always done well in the North Eastern League and they finished last season third from the top . It is believed at Horsley Hill that they will do equally well this season , and as they will field much the same team as . last winter it is very likely that they will reach a good position . Last Saturday's practice match gave a taste of the men's quality , and Mr. J. W. Tinn , the secretary - manager , is highly pleased with the form displayed . The five new men made an excellent impression , but whether they will all play in the North - Eastern League is , of course , uncertain .
