As far as Shields are con cerned , their programme will be augmented by FA Cup ties , Durham Professional Cup ties and possible ties in the Dur ham Benevolent Bowl which may be r revived . Ten clubs , South Shields , Sunderland , Darlington , Hart lepools United , Gateshead , Bishop . Auckland , Billingham Synthonia , Crook Town , Spennymoor United and West Auckland , have been invited to compete in the Benevolent Bowl and those clubs are now mulling over whether or not to go ahead . Despite the numerical weak ness of the North Regional League , Shields have only five vacant dates , some of which , if not all , could be taken up by cup ties , so they face a full season's work . As far as the League Cup is concerned , Shields could do well , for four of their last six games are at home , rather conducive , I would have thought , a storm ing finish .
