Atkinson , occupied treasurer , Mr. d . The Scottish Football Association held its annual menting last work , and Mr. Walter Crichton was elected president . The Scottish Association is now seriously hampered with funds , and hardly seem to know what to do with the £ 4,000 which credits their account at the bank . A proposal to oquip a ground capable of holding 100,000 spectators did not strike the meeting as the best investment , and , like the Football Association , they decided to go in for comfortable Consols . In this , no doubt , the Association acted wisely , for a ground to hold 100,000 would cost something to keep in order , and , besides , there are three football enclosures in Glasgow alone which will meet the requirements of the Association .

Though not intimately connected with athletics , the death of Colonel North will be deplored by all good sportamen . The popular Colonel was thoroughly English in his ad miration of real pluck . Most lovers of football will remember the Nitrate King's " display of his characteristic impulse on the occasion of the 1894-5 English Cup Final . Higgins , the Albion centre half . received a nasty injury to his head , but insisted on playing in bandages and playing as brilliantly as any man on the field . The gallant Colonel had eyes only for the equally gallant " Throstle " and at the finish of the match pressed upon the modest Albionite a slight token of esteem and admiration in the shape of a crisp £ 5 note .
