JOHN DUNLOP'S useful apprentice Declan Gillespie can land a double for his stable with Shore Captain in the Nanpanton Handicap Stakes and Litigant in the Charnwood Claiming Stakes at Leicester tomorrow .

In the final ten minutes a Young shot across the face of the goal beat the ' keeper but the luck went with Marine and the ball bounced away off the post .
The luck stayed with Marine as Jimmy Robson hooked the rebound over the bar from four yards , when a goal seemed to be on the cards .
Five minutes from time Steve Hunter completed the scoring with a well taken shot . Parker's header found him on the penalty spot where he trapped the ball , slipped past one defender and side footed his shot just inside the post .

By only conceding a penalty in the first half , Westoe turned round for the second half with their spirits raised . Kicking down the slope they immediately pressed Jedforest back into their own ' 25 ' when Palmer dropped a somewhat feeble goal . Carey's Skipper try rounded off what had been a fine game for him . There are few players capable of stopping this prop forward when he with goes determination for the line . A well deserved win , but several questions still remain to be answered . Few supporters understand the reluctance to use a fine pair of wingers . Why is good possession poor ball when it reaches the centre and why do several forwards consistently run present the ball opposition ? After this game however

The Marine School first team lost by 22 points to ten to Houghton II at Houghton on Saturday .
In the first half , the home side scored three unconverted tries , all due to very poor defensive play by the college side .
After the interval , the college pack pressed hard , but again a breakaway by the Houghton centres led to another try which was converted . One more home side try took their total to 22 points . The Marine School pack again fought hard and in the closing stages it was No. 8 Percy Johnson who scored from a forwards ' rush and Tighe converted . Pressure was maintained and Johnson added another try after a five yard scrum .
The Marine School II beat Tynedale IV by 36 points to 13 at Hexham their first win and a result they richly deserved . They scored eight tries with two conversions to their opponents two tries , one conversion and one Although much penalty . less and younger experienced , the college pack dominated throughout with a fine spirited display of disciplined rugby . Training will be as usual at 5 p.m. tomorrow .
