Take Away HALF - TIME LEMONS " 61 KENNY PARKER STAYS WITH SHIELDS Jarrow Boys ' big day tomorrow BY DICK KIRKUP ROTHMAN'S Northern Players must play League side Crook Town are the latest club to join the queue for South Shields players , but like Consett , Shil don and Wallsend be fore them they have been rejected . TOMORROW Jarrow , Hebburn and Felling Under - 15 team face their most important home game for years when they entertain Grimsby and Cleethorpes boys in round four of the English Schools Shields at Reyrolle Ground , Hebburn ( kick off 1.0pm . ) . for me alone , says Bobby Elwell Their target was top scorer Kenny Parker who has hit 16 goals in 12 games this season he plays in an unchanged Shields team against Sportsman 27 14 SPORTS SPECIAL Newcastle University at the Jack Clark Ground tomorrow ( 2.15 ) - and the plan was for Parker to play for Crook in midweek matches and still play for Shields Saturdays . on However , Shields manager Bobby Elwell told Parker that any player who signs for Shields plays for Shields alone . Says Elwell : " It could lead to chaos if we started allowing our players to play for other clubs in midweek . I only have a playing staff of 13 and we could run into trouble if players got injured playing for other clubs . " Shildon also tried to sign Parker , while Steve Hunter could have gone to Consett and Ray Young to Wallsend , but I have laid down the ruling that my players must play for Shields only . Gazette all - in - one " I put this to Parker and he said that he is staying with us . I must put my club first , and I think the players realise the problems that could arise through injuries . It would be a pity to ruin all we have worked for by being without players who have been injured playing for somebody else . " Tomorrow Shields return to Northern Alliance duty after their successful sortie in the FA Vase , and they face a side over whom they completed a 6-0 ( home ) and 3-0 ( away ) double last season . At the moment Shields are second top in the table two points below Percy Main but with two games in hand and that situation should remain unchanged tomorrow . Shields should beat the University they have played only six games so far , having won three and lost three while Perey Main should make home advantage count against sixth bottom Greenwells who have seven points from 12 games . - Says Elwell : " We should win , but everybody raises their game against us , and this will be the case tomorrow . I would also like to give centre forward Jimmy Robson some credit for the way he is playing . Last season he was our main finisher , scoring 31 goals , but this season , while he has scored 11 goals , he is playing more involved game for a me . " It means that Parker is getting more goals , but Robson is getting through a lot of work . The two of them are playing well together , " The Shields line - up will be :. Shields Gazette , Friday , November 21 , 1975-15 Patterson ; McDonald , Moon , Compton , Rutherford ; Madden , Young , Graham ; Hunter , Robson , Parker . Sub . Carr . Note : Shields have received several inquiries from supporters who would like to travel to next week's away game against Workington Reserves . The club is running a coach an anyone interested can book with club officials at tomorrow's match . Victory here would put Jarrow through to the last 32 of the competition out of a total entry of 261 and give them the chance of a plum tie in round five against one of the big boys . Grimsby , in fact , represent the most distant opposition Jarrow could have met in this round , and no doubt Jarrow will hope to catch their visitors travel - weary after their 160 mile journey . Jarrow , who include two county players in Phil Porthouse and Barry Tyerman , probably be represented by the following team : Dixon ; Lindsley , Heron ; McCaffery , Porthouse , Tyerman ; Baker , Mitchell , Newman , Vinton , McArdle . Sub . ( from ) : Thomson , Rigg , Convery , Leonard , Midwood and Cullen . |
