10 Shields Gazette , M MA Future of Womh Wembl 13 - tanker package By OUR SHIPPING REPORTER THE future of the Swan Maritime tanker package on which thousands of Tyne shipyard jobs depend was spotlighted again today following the resignation of its two chief architects . Capt . Mils Brener and Mr Yaacov Meridor have stood . down as joint managing directors of the Israeli based Maritime Fruit Carriers and also given up their voting rights in the will company . But they continue to sit on the board . In a boardroom shake up , Mr Ira Guilden , an American banker and industrialist , has been appointed chairman of MFC , with Mr H. Struve a prominent New Hensel , York lawyer , as managing director and chief executive . The eclipse of the Brener - Meridor partnership revives speculation as to what will happen to the 13 tankers still to be built by Swan Hunter under the Swan Maritime deal , tied up three years ago . decisions are needed soon if jobs are to be saved . The main hope for Swan Hunter and the Tyne is that they will agree to substitute other types of ships for the present tankers . A wholesale cancellation of the tankers would be disaster . Mr Hensel said in New York that Swan Maritime would have a " high priority " bank after present been negotiations had completed . He plans to fly to London shortly . A Swan Hunter spokesman said : don't know " We anything as yet about these changes in Maritime Fruit Carriers and we expect it will be a week or two before anything develops . " S.
