Robson is not a native of ho is very closely identified with the Associati mo in the borough , which is at present struggling obtain a firm footing ; in fact , he is one of the pioneers of the Association game in the harbour borough . About 20 years ago he was born at Wallsend , and in his tenth your his parents took up their residence at South Shields . He went to Ocean Road Board School to pursue his educational courses , but at that time there wus no school team in existence . Hie made his debut in local football with the South Shields Y.M. Wednesday Association Club , which then played in a field opposito Alderman Wandlo's , st Westor , and so great was the enthusiasm amongst the young lads at that time that they could always manage to put a fair team on the field , Fel on many occasions they were assisted by Rugby In this combination Mr. Robson played full bak , and enjoyed the full confidence of his colleagues in that position ; and it was mainly owing to his excellent organian , prit that the club was kept together for two full reasons , in face of the difficulties it was beset with on all sides . Last season the name was changed to that of South Shields Wednesday Tradesmen , and the club was axi mitted to the Northern Wednesday League , and at the end of the season they occupied a position about the m.ddle of the table . Just about the beginning of the present season it was decided to try and forin a first class Alliance club for South Shields . Mr. Robson took up the idea with vidity , and took an active interest in its formation . He was placed on the committee of manage ment , and worked assiduously with his colleagues until As has already the club became an accomplished fact . been seen , tho club has overcomo many obstacles , and , although in a botbed of Rugbyism , is rapidly gaining popularity in the district .
