Its nice for us to know extra information on a former player such as the details you've given as to where Jack used to live . I've listed below some background on Jack and some statistical information for you to look at : 11th July 2001 Jack was born in a place called Mickley and was indeed signed from South Shields on June 13th 1927 for a large fee . His favoured position was mainly right full back and he played in total 174 League appearances and 10 FAC games for Manchester City , scoring no goals ! Obviously Jack stayed in defence and not support the attack ! In his first season he helped City back to Division One and won a League Championship Winners Medal for Division Two in the process . He would probably have won some minor Lancashire and Manchester Senior Cup medals also as City won it or were runners up quite a lot during the period Jack played for City . His debut was against South Shields ( A ) on Sep 10th 1927 and his last appearance for City was against Derby ( H ) on Feb 11th 1933. Jack made 3 FA Cup appearances the year City got to the 1933 Final but due to the emergence of Sid Cann lost his place and missed out on a FA Cup Final appearance . Thus he was sold to Reading on 28th June 1933 , staying at City for just over six years . During his time with City his nickname was " Mickey " and was described as being one of the smallest and lightest full - backs in the First Division , but a " terror for his size " ! He was with South Shields for eight seasons before coming to City . His other stats were that he was 5ft 5ins and weighed 148 pounds I've enclosed a head & shoulders photocopy picture of Jack and a copy of a match programme from 1929/30 that shows Jack in the line ups .
