V pal J.RIDLEY FROM ROGER PARRIS 1 kom GEORGE J. G. Ridley - another player to pass the century mark during the club's Football league days . He played a total of 183 times , scoring three goals and came from minor club Mickley . A sturdy player who was not known for taking prisoners even though he was only 5ft 6in tall !! 7 JOHN GEORGE ( ' MICK ' ) RIDLEY 1921-27 Mick Ridley was born in Bardon Mill , Northumberland on 19 January 1898. After the departure of Warney Cresswell in 1922 he made the left - back position his own and once clocked up a total of 110 consecutive appearances . Sold to Manchester City in September 1927 he helped his new club to win the Second Division championship and played in the First Division for four years . He later played for North Shields .
