When the teams met at Hull last week the Seasiders were narrowly defeated by the only goal of the match , while the corres ponding tahe at Seith Striptds last season resulted in a goalless . draw . The Shieldsmen were again without the services of Willis Walker , who is still on the sick list suffering from a severe attack of lumbago , and there were two changes in the team compared with last week . Robson deputised for Ridley , who was indisposed ; and Wilson reappeared at right half hack to the exclusion of 11ird . South Shields . - Richardson ; Crown , Rob . son ; Wilson , Ilardy , Metcalfe ; Matthewson , Sinith , Guyan , Oxberry , Bolam . Hull City . - Mercer : Gibson , Bell : Josn SOR , McGee . Bleakley : Mills . Walker , Havelock , Lewis , Thomas . Referee : Mr J. T. Whitham , Sheffield . THE GAME . The weather was fine though dull , and the ground was rather heavy . A crowd of about 8,000 was present at the start . Oxberry dispossessed Walker early in the garue and place neatly to his right wing , but Bleakley nromptly stumped the fush . and from his clearance Orown's servines were requisitioned . Smart combined work hy Lewis and Thomas again hraught Orawn into service , anil syon afterwards the visitare applied vigurous pressure through Lewid and Ifavelnek The Shields backs , how ever , proved ual to the occasion and the haing forwards then made their firus supl FF 有 A & PFAR : sive movement . Mareer had to deal with a long what frain Bolam , and a minute later Matthewson went off on his own , but ran the ball out of play .
