Azerver Ora 971 , 1923 AS " WANDERER SEES IT . South Shields Continue to Please Their Followers : Effective Work by All Departments of the Team . FOOTBALL SATURDAY , SEPTEMBER By splendid oonsistency of form , South Shields acquired seven points out of a pos sible eight , three of which were obtained away from home , and I shall be very much surprised if they have not preserved their unbeaten record this afternoon . Their success is all the more surprising having regard to the fact that in every game this srason injuries have necessitated a change in the team , but it so happens that the effici ency of the side has not been impaired in any degree and on each qocasion the Sca . siders have proved superior to their oppon ents . It Blackpool earned the distinction of being the first team , to take a point from the Shieldsmen , and it was more by good luck than menit that they succeeded in doing so . was generally anticipated that the west coast men would be a stiff proposition on their own ground , and a division of the points indicates a creditable performance on the part of the visitors . to the best advantage , and there was too beveral instances they failed to apply that much hesitancy at close quarters .. In final purt which makes all the difference between suocess and failure . But in the respect they were not such bad offenders as their opporents . It must be admitterl that the Fulham defenders had a monopoly of the luck EFFECTIVE FORWARD PLAY . Ernie Simms seems to have found his Luton form , for in every game this season he has been an outstanding worker and the success of the South Shields front line has been very largely due to his crafty manoeuvring and skilful leadersh.p . His midfield work is particularly effective and he is not lacking in enterprise when the necessity arises for individual effort . Another important factor has been the brilli ant performances of the wing men , Bolam and Brown . Their sparkling touchline raids and accurate " middling " have been con spicuous feature plastry engounter in which the Beasiders have been engaged . Both are exceptionally fast and never shy about going in . " I have not yet seen either of them waste a flag kick . 4 : an A SURE DEFENCE . Talking about defenders .. it would seem that in Ridley and Crown the Seasiders have a pair of backs that will take some beating .
