Second League : SOUTHAMPTON ENTERTAIN SOUTH SHIELDS . South Shields visited Southampton this afternoon with considerably weakened Laam . In the absence of . Simms the leader hip was entrusted to Hetherington , and in he half - back line Metcalfe appeared in place of Hutchinson , who is on the sick list .
