After tonight's game we confidently expect the latter's record to crack . With a reshuffled side due to injuries , we gave " The Colliers " a run for their money at Portland Park , and with a little less anxiety in front of goal we may have at least snatched a point from them last week . We have always regarded that we have a slight edge over this evening's opponents , but Ashington are playing a direct brand of football this season which many sides will find difficult to master . I commisserate with the Ashington Directors that despite their high position in the league , they are not getting the gates they deserve . The ball is in the court of the North Eastern people to give their non - league sides the support that will show to the rest of the league that we are not a soccer outpost .
