Signed for Portsmouth from Lincoln City as an inside right on 6th August 1931 and played just 3 games for the club . Played his first game for Pompey in a 0-3 home defeat v Aston Villa on October 17th 1931 ; played at Grimsby on November 7th in a 3-1 defeat and then at Leicester in a 2-1 defeat on February 4th 1932. Played in the number 8 shirt deputising for Jack SMITH whilst he was playing for England !
