He was a very proud recipient of an illuminated address presented in 1993 on the occasion of his 20 years Football Association Council membership , signed by FA President the Duke of Kent . In the years of his FA Council membership , he accompanied FA teams most extensively abroad , U / 16 , U / 18 , U / 21 and the full international side . It was computed that he had watched over 6,000 games in some 9,000 hours . He also attended over 50 consecutive FA Cup Finals from 1937. He was also presented with two further long service awards , from the Northern Regional Sports Council and the Durham Football Association for outstanding service to sport and football .
