Everybody was affected with hielts " lever " this afternoon and South people had it in a somewhat aggravated , form . Today's great game with Portsmonth has provided the main topic of conversatim in the town this week and the Seaside prospects of ertering the second round of the national competition have been freeiy
debated everywhere .

It was the " Pempey " team's first visit to South Shields and apart from their record in the newly constituted Third League they were something of an unknown quân . tity in the north .
