Shields kicked off with a strong wind blowing : The opening play was slow . The first attapk , came from Bedlington , but offside drove them back .
At the other end Lillycrop was , well through when given offside , Lilley put in s good run and Lillycrop headed into the contre , but , Munro sayed .
Bedlington immediately retaliated , John son placing into the goalmouth , for Hoffman to come out and saver .

A good run by the Shields left wing resulted in Lillycrop missing badly . Soon afterwards the same plager opened the score for Shields . A minute later Smith equalised with a good shot . Munro : saved two shows in succession from Layde . and Greenwell , and a free kick for hands against the Terriers was cleared .
Lillycrop cleverly tricked Waugh , but Munro came out and took the ball from his toes . A foul by Metcalf against Brotherton was cleared , and the Stephen són narrowly missed . Brotherton beat Ridley , but Hoffman easily saved his
centre .
Greenwell , then took a crow shot and scored a second goal for Shields .
