This brochure sets out the many points in their favour plus the image of a go - ahead club . The Board of Directors make an excellent team at administration level and their initiative and enterprise has won the solid support of our town . Their burning ambition is membership of the Football League and every decision they make is to this end . They have a lot to offer , and their ground has all the amenities one would expect of a League club . It is difficult to imagine any of this year's applicants for League status presenting a stronger case than South Shields . They are worthy of your support and your vote . There is a need for more senior football - more Football League football . South Shields is one of the areas in the county where that need can be met . Large attendances drawn from a large population ; ample accommodation ; a large pitch with stands and very good floodlights . These are all available at South Shields . Their efforts to gain Football League membership merit support . J. B.
